I got to spend a pretty good deal of time in Hawaii not long ago. It was breathtaking and I have to tell you I slept great every night.

Feeling so well rested though also forced me to recall a time when sleep was not so peaceful. My mild case of sleep apnea meant my nights were both noisy and restless.

I now experience good, restful nights. However, it's not easy to forget what it used to be like. I've also been compelled to research the connection between sleep apnea and another condition, fibromyalgia.

It seems more than a coincidence that up to 80% of people with fibromyalgia also suffer from sleep disorders such as sleep apnea.

Pain is the primary description of Fibromyalgia. It may be pain in the muscles, muscle spasms, nerve pain, overall sensitivity to touch and can even include bowel disturbances. It is normally only diagnosed after numerous tests which exclude a variety of other conditions.

Fibromyalgia sufferers will be the first to tell you just how real this problem is. They will also be able to tell you how disturbing their sleep may be.

Sleep apnea is when breathing stops while sleeping. It may happen hundreds of times during the slumber session. It can also lead to many long term affects.

The heart is forced to increase its pace due to the lowered blood oxygen levels when breathing is interrupted. Hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases can result over time. Sleep apnea can also result in gaining weight, headaches and even erectile dysfunction.

Combine sleep apnea with the ever painful fibromyalgia and just imagine how difficult it can be to try to go about normal daily activities.

Currently, the reason or reasons fibromyalgia and sleep apnea are link are not confirmed. It's possible that distrubed sleep could make a person more susceptible to conditions such as fibromyalgia. Or it could be that tissue problems from fibromyalgia could result in obstructed airways resulting in sleep apnea.

Either way, the combination is serious.

Based on the link, treating or better yet curing one condition, should provide some relief for the other. If one sleeps and wakes refreshed, it would seem that he or she would be able to better manage fibromyalgia.

And the reverse should also be true. Less pain from fibromyalgia should help improve sleep.

Sadly, most people suffering from fibromyalgia are not prescribed a sleep study which can allow the condition to continue. However, knowing how serious sleep apnea is, as well the increased chances that those with fibromyalgia have it - why wouldn't more people get tested?

I've stated before, that in the past I did not recommend the Stop Snoring Program for sleep apnea. Simply put, I feared that people would discontinue treatments that are providing real benefit and possibly end up worse off.

However, as I mentioned earlier, my mild sleep apnea was in fact cured with the Stop Snoring Program. Other clients with mild cases also shared their success stories with me.

I of course recommend the Stop Snoring Program for anyone who snores. I also now recommend it to augment sleep apnea treatment. My Fibromyalgia Program which is also all natural has been extremently successful to treat that condition. Treating both problems could just make all the difference in your life.
